Hop into a colorful Easter with entertaining inspirations from Lilly Pulitzer

Date: 03/23/2012

Good morning Lilly Lovers! Today I was browsing through my copy of "Essentially Lilly: a Guide to Colorful Holidays" and thought I would share some inspiration with you from the Barefoot Princess herself. I've also included two of Izak Zenou's wonderful illustrations.

In an excerpt from the book, Lilly discusses planning for Easter.  "I'm not into major planning," Lilly explains. "We take the eggs and the bunny decorations out of storage a day or two before Easter and just pull it together. Think about it. Do it. Get on with it."

Simple rules for elegant entertaining! I just love this illustration of a colorful egg hunt.

Lilly used to greet Easter guests in a bathing suit and a pair of pink fuzzy ears and serve the drink of their choice using the "Playboy bunny dip." Why not don some ears yourself this Easter?

Lilly used to dye HUNDREDS of Easter eggs using dye in as many colors as she could finde. She also loved to personalize them with glitter, pens, ribbons, abstract designs and anything else she could come up with. Her best advice, as always, is to have fun.

As for Lilly's "favorite" Easter memory she says: "One year those awful girls from my shop gave me a pair of little bunnies-two of the opposite sex. I set them to live in my beautiful walled garden off my bedroom, which had an outdoor sauna and $3,500 of new landscaping. You can guess what happened. Within two seconds there were sixty bunnies hopping around. It's true; it was like that commercial when the guy is waiting for his credit card in the pet shop and the bunnies keep coming and coming and coming. They ate everything in my garden, and they ruined the sauna. Needless to say, there was a big bunny sale on our street. I didn't care whose pot they ended up in!"
